Top Tips For Planning A Low Fat Thanksgiving Meal

You must have noticed that after eating high calorie food i.e. Turkey, meatball and other non vegetarian food items your gain weight. Those who are very health cautious or have constant health problems should avoid high fat or high calorie food. But a Thanksgiving celebration is all about Turkey and special food which you don’t eat on regular basis. Don’t get disheartened as there are ways to still enjoy such food containing very low fat which is good for your health.

In this article I am going to tell you how you can cook low fat food at Thanksgiving dinner party just to ensure proper health of all the guests. Please leave me a comment and share your experiences of cooking low fat and low calorie food for a Thanksgiving dinner party.

 
While cooking the dishes use minimum amount of cooking oil. Cooking in non-stick or using a cooking spray will also help in reducing the amount of cooking oil required for the preparation.
 
Avoid typical thanksgiving pies and prefer fruit dessert (good for health). You can also serve the pumpkin custard as a desert, but make sure it is without the crust as crust has lots of fat in it.
 
Try to reduce the amount of sausage in your stuffing and if possible do away your dishes without the sausages.
 
Cooked stuffing’s have high fat content, so avoid cooking the stuffing and if possible always bake the stuffing’s for reduced fat intake.
 
While purchasing a Turkey make sure that you buy a turkey which doesn't have skin. Do not cook a turkey having its skin.
 
Avoid serving gratin vegetable dishes instead prefer steamed vegetables.
 
Avoid serving heavy, cream-based dips, crackers or chips as appetizers instead go for cut-up vegetables.
 
Use skim milk, chicken stock etc for preparing mashed potatoes so as to reduce the fat content of potatoes.
