Tips To Celebrate Thanksgiving In A Traditional Way

Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks to God for the rich harvest. On this festival we also express gratitude for older family members to gain their blessings. We show that we are thankful for all the stuff given to us by God or by our parents. Typically Thanksgiving celebrations involve big meal, drinks and lavish party but what about celebrating Thanksgiving in same traditional style which has inspired the very origin of this festival.

Turkey - Turkey is the main food of a thanksgiving. It can be either served as baked or a whole depending upon on the preferences and liking of the family members and friends. If you are a vegetarian there is a tofu version also available for you to enjoy.

Stuffing - Bread stuffing or cornbread stuffing is a regular part of thanksgiving menu for some families the traditional method of preparation of grinding or cubing stale bread and then adding the other ingredients is common for some while few have manipulated the menu as per there likings.

Turkey gravy from drippings – Along with the stuffing there is a tradition of serving turkey gravy made from the drippings. The gravy is prepared with many ways with milk, with broth, with giblets etc. The gravy is to be poured on turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing.

Mashed Potatoes – Mashed white potatoes made with, milk, butter, onions, sour cream etc is the main side dishes of the thanksgiving as it go well with the gravy.

Marshmallow topped yams – Yams or sweet potatoes are must to be added for a thanksgiving feast. These are prepared in different ways – baked or served whole, boiled or mashed and later baked with the marshmallow top or brown sugar.
