8 Tips To Avoid Weight Gain On Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving celebrations revlove around meat and heavy food which usually have high fat and calories. Those who are not doing regular exercise should avoid eating heavy as there are very less chances of burning the fat which they accumulate. 

In this article I will tell you how you can avoid the hungry feeling and avoid eating heavy in Thanksgiving parties. Please leave me a comment and share your views on how to avoid high calorie food at Thanksgiving.

Drink water- To reduce the hungry feeling drink 16 - 20 ounces of water within an hour prior to the Thanksgiving party. This will help you eat less and avoid fat intake.

Eat raw vegetables- If there is raw veggie served as appetizers in the thanksgiving go for it. Eating raw vegetable will take away your hunger pangs, thereby reducing your appetite and preventing overeating

Avoid ‘seconds’ while serving - When you are serving dinner for yourself, try to fill the plate with one serving size and make sure there is no going back for food. While filing the plate make sure you have got plenty of white meat turkey, plenty of veggies and anything green i.e. green beans, broccoli on your plate.

Avoid starchy carbohydrates - While serving the plate for you try to minimize the starchy carbohydrates available on the menu i.e. mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, noodles, stuffing etc

Enjoy the food – While eating remember there is no hurry. Properly chew and enjoy the food while having a quality conversation with others.

Skip dessert- If possible skip dessert by saying “I am done for now, may be later”. If you wish to have dessert make sure do not eat dessert just after the meal.

Skip Gravy – Gravy is though quite tasty and tempting but is also full with oil and fat. Try not to have or just have a minimized amount of gravy.

Go for a walk – After meal just do not lie down on a couch, keep moving. If possible go for a walk outside or indulge everybody in some outdoor games.
